PHOENIX, AZ — Cable ONE, a cable provider serving nearly 700,000 customers in 19 states, announced that more than 200 cities and towns across the United States will be able to lay claim to the title "Gig city" with the 2016 launch of GigaONE, the company’s new gigabit service.
Texas State Representative Brooks Landgraf said communities across Cable ONE’s Texas markets will benefit greatly from having this latest technology. "Our world is changing more rapidly than ever and the advantage that our schools, first responders and businesses will have with gigabit high speed Internet service is important to educate the great minds of the next generation, ensure public safety, and continue to grow our local economy," Landgraf said. "I look forward to seeing the benefits of this technology across the Permian Basin to ensure that our region remains the best place to live, work and raise a family."
The company’s newest speed is 40 times faster than the average speed currently offered across the United States, and will be available to the majority of Cable ONE customers by the end of 2016. "GigaONE will support the technology needs of the communities we serve, now and in the future," said Joe Felbab, vice president of marketing for Cable ONE. "We are excited to be able to offer Gigabit service to nearly 1.5 million homes in the markets we serve."
Cable ONE has invested more than a half billion dollars over the past five years on network upgrades and enhancements in order to bring the latest technology and fastest speeds to its customers.
Delivering Gigabit Service over Existing Hybrid Fiber-coax Network
Felbab says that Cable ONE currently offers customized, dedicated gigabit fiber optic services to businesses, and the company will begin launching residential gigabit service over its existing hybrid fiber-coax network in the first quarter of 2016 in the following cities: Altus, OK; Duncan, OK; Borger, TX; Emporia, KS; Bisbee, AZ; Cottonwood, AZ; and McCall, ID.
"Cable ONE will be the first provider in the majority of our markets to offer gigabit speeds to residential customers," Felbab said. "Unlike many of our competitors, gigabit service will be available to all of our customers — not just a select few in certain areas. We’ve been committed for decades to serving smaller cities and towns, and we are delighted to provide them with the latest technology to make them Gig cities in 2016."
"Our extensive fiber network deployment and continued investment in improving and expanding our network enables us to offer the fastest, most reliable Internet connections at the best value, while contributing to the economic development of the communities we serve," Felbab said.
The company recently doubled speeds on virtually all of its plans for new and existing residential and business customers. "With our new doubled speeds launched last month and our upcoming launch of Gigabit service, we’re committed to offering our customers a variety of powerful Internet speeds to choose from in order to meet their family’s tech needs," Felbab said.
