  • Future Market Insights
LONDON — The global fiber-to-the-home market is expected to grow at a high CAGR of 14.4 percent during the forecast period from 2017 to 2027, according to a recent report from Future Market Insights.

In 2017, the global fiber-to-the-home market was valued at about $9.5 billion and is estimated to reach a valuation of more than $37 billion by the end of 2027. This growth can be attributed to rising demand for better internet infrastructure, rising construction in emerging economies and increasing rapid industrialization programs.

Rapid Regional Industrialization
Rapid industrialization is taking place in regions such as Eastern Europe, which is expected to be a lucrative opportunity for the telecom sector to provide high speed internet to businesses.

Developing countries such as India and China, which are establishing strong supply chains and distribution channels, are expected to contribute to the growth of the global FTTH market.

The smart home concept is expected to drive the FTTH market in developed economies, such as North America and Western Europe. Therefore, emerging application of smart homes is expected to have better expansion opportunities for FTTH service providers in the respective regions.

Internet TV Market Value to Increase Threefold
Internet TV segment in the use cases category is anticipated to grow from about $1.9 billion in 2017 to more than $7 billion by the end of 2027. Internet TV segment is likely to lead the global market in the coming years. The VOIP segment in this category is the second largest in terms of market value, but is poised to grow at a comparatively slower rate than other segments. In 2017, it is valued at about $2 billion and is estimated to reach a valuation of around $6.9 billion by the end of the assessment period.

Remote Education and Internet Gaming to Grow
Remote education segment is expected to grow at the same rate as internet gaming segment during the forecast period. Both these segments are projected to register a CAGR of 15.7 percent throughout the assessment period, but the internet gaming segment is estimated to reach a valuation of more than $5 billion, whereas the remote education segment is estimated to reach a value of more than $4 billion by the end of 2027.

Regional Outlook
In North America, the internet gaming segment is poised to grow at a high CAGR of 14.7 percent to reach $1.2 billion by 2027 end. In Latin America, the VOIP segment is expected to hold high market share and is a fast growing segment in this region. The VOIP segment is estimated to reach a value of more than $560 million by 2027 end. In the Asia Pacific region, excluding Japan (APEJ), the internet TV segment is expected to dominate the market followed by VOIP segment in the coming years.
