Google Fiber TV App Redesigned for Multiple Devices

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA - Your mobile device may soon replace your TV's remote control as seen in a redesigned Google Fiber app that will turn multiple devices into TV remotes that offer new TV experiences.

Since last November, Google Fiber TV customers have been able to use their Nexus 7 tablet — which they get for free with their TV subscription — as their remote control thanks to a Google app specially designed for the Nexus 7. Now, in response to customer demand, Google has launched a redesigned Google Fiber TV App on Google Play, that will work on any Android device running Version 4.1 or later. An iOS app is also coming soon.

"Our new user interface, or “UI,” is built with one thing in mind — letting you find the shows you want to watch quickly," said Stergios Anastasiadis, Google's engineering manager for the app.

Features of the redesigned app include:

  • Search button available on every screen

  • More prominent images and text

  • Greater ease in browsing shows and movies

  • Works in portrait mode

  • "Watchalong" mode provides facts and trivia

Google Fiber TV subscribers can download the new App via Google Play.
