Greenlight Lights Up the Academy Building with Fiber-Optic Internet

ROCHESTER, NY — Greenlight Networks, an ultra high‐speed, broadband service start‐up primarily targeting residential customers, launched its services in the newly renovated Academy Building in downtown Rochester, NY. The company boasts service up to 100 times faster than a typical broadband connection, literally transforming the way businesses and consumers can live, work, and play.

“Each of our 21 loft-style apartments at the Academy Building is filled with unique features and different floor plans,” said George Traikos, the building’s developer. “We wanted our residents to experience a differentiated Internet service as well. Greenlight’s service was not only the fastest, but was also the most cost effective solution we evaluated.”

Free 100 Mbps Connections

Greenlight installed over six miles of fiber‐optic cables throughout the Academy Building to provide a 100 Mbps/20 Mbps Internet connection to apartment. This will be offered as a free amenity for Academy Building residents. Residents have the option to upgrade service up to 1 Gbps, and there will also be free Wi-Fi for patrons of first floor retailers.

“We’re thrilled to be a part of the renovation of this historic building,” said Greenlight’s President and CEO, Mark Murphy. “Offering our state‐of‐the‐art, fiber‐optic Internet service as an amenity provides residents with a great value that truly differentiates this property in the rising downtown Rochester market.”

In addition to the Academy Building, Greenlight Networks is currently available at the Erie Harbor Apartments in Rochester and in the Village of Pittsford, NY. The company intends to deploy in select markets across the Greater Rochester Area and throughout Upstate New York.
