CLIFTON PARK, N.Y.– Clifton Park Town Supervisor Phil Barrett announced that the town is working with Greenlight Networks, New York State’s fastest Internet provider, on arrangements to allow the company to offer its high-speed fiber-to-the-home service to its residents. The municipality is also working with Greenlight on locations to house its network equipment within the town.

Greenlight’s fiber network will deliver data speeds as high as 2 Gbps, with a base speed of 500 Mbps upload and download for $50 a month. Greenlight’s Internet service is five times faster and 25 percent less expensive than the incumbent cable provider, with no contracts, taxes, or hidden fees. Fiber internet provides the best possible online experience for gaming or streaming high-quality video and supports simultaneous high-speed connections across multiple devices.

“Greenlight Networks will be expanding their services in the Town of Clifton Park in 2022, offering an additional option for high-speed fiber to the home, said Supervisor Barrett.  “The new internet service will provide Clifton Park residents with a new option for a service many people use every day.”

Greenlight plans to start providing service in Clifton Park in the summer of 2022 and expects to reach 3,600 households in the town with its fiber optic internet service by the end of that year. The town of Clifton Park marks the first expansion into the Capital region for Greenlight Networks, which currently offers service in the Rochester, Buffalo and Binghamton regions.

“Our research shows a considerable amount of pent-up demand for high-speed broadband in the Capital Region and surrounding areas, so we’re extremely excited to bring the reliability and speed of a world-class internet connection to Clifton Park,” said Mark Murphy, CEO of Greenlight Networks. “The investment we are making in the area will help future-proof communities and foster additional growth and economic development across the area.”

In addition to working with Clifton Park town officials, Greenlight Networks is in the process of applying for access to the utility poles in the area to connect its fiber optic network and is securing additional locations to house its network equipment throughout the region.
