"High-Speed Huntingburg” Fiber Project Announced

HUNTINGBURG, IN — “High-Speed Huntingburg,” a fiber project privately funded by PSC, is expected to bring fiber to the home (FTTH) to all residences and businesses located within the city limits of Huntingburg.

“Across the country and our state, when it comes to broadband technology, the research is clear. Communities without the most up-to-date advanced telecommunications infrastructure will likely suffer economically and socially,” said Huntingburg Mayor Denny Spinner. “With the ‘High-Speed Huntingburg’ project, we are bridging the technology gap that exists in many rural Indiana communities and giving Huntingburg yet another chance to thrive and grow. Having a trusted local and experienced company like PSC to commit to such a project makes this announcement even more exciting. Meeting local telecommunications needs is part of PSC’s history, and ‘High-Speed Huntingburg’ creates a vision not only for the future for their company, but for the businesses, industry and citizens of Huntingburg.”

The project will be completed in phases, with the first phase set to begin at Hunters Crossing, the workforce housing development announced earlier this year as part of the city’s Stellar Communities program. The engineering study has begun with an expected project start date of spring 2016.

“PSC is excited to be constructing a high-speed fiber optic network in Huntingburg,” says Jim Dauby, PSC president and CEO. “We have successfully deployed these advanced broadband networks elsewhere, and have seen firsthand their impact on the community. In addition to the technology, PSC will provide the residents of Huntingburg with customer support and service that truly will set us apart from our competition.”
