IRVINE, CA – Network equipment supplier Comtrend Corporation announced the launch of its BeamLink Wireless Video Adapters. Now available to service providers in North America, the BeamLink adapters can distribute multiple streams of carrier-grade high-definition IPTV content from an Ethernet-equipped home gateway or digital video recorder to IP set-top boxes.

BeamLink, which uses Celeno’s HD Wi-Fi chipset, provides a wire-like IPTV video experience along with whole home networking coverage free of dead spots. The IPTV home network connects multiple HD video sources, such as IPTV, video-on-demand and stored DVR content, with all the TV screens in the home. Comtrend says BeamLink provides cost-effective multiclient scalability for service providers while eliminating the cost and hassle of installing new wires. Customers can self-install the adapter by connecting the main BeamLink AP device to the gateway and remote clients to up to four IP set-top boxes. One push of a button installs and associates the network in a matter of seconds.

Through OptimizAIR technology, BeamLink uses the wide 5GHz spectrum, employing interference immunity technologies and selecting available channels on the fly. Beam-forming multiple-input, multiple-output technology keeps radiated energy to a minimum – according to Comtrend, radiation is only a small percentage of that induced by other Wi-Fi solutions.
