Indianola Municipal Utilities (IMU), has engaged Magellan Advisors to develop a FTTP feasibility study. The study will also concentrate on a financially sound approach that is in the long-term best interest of IMU and the Indianola community.

The study will determine if and how IMU can leverage its current open-access network to create a fiber-optic broadband network that will serve the entire community of Indianola. Magellan’s staff will perform community stakeholder outreach with various community anchors, businesses and residents to determine the current needs of the Indianola community and to understand how IMU’s network can be leveraged to meet these needs. Magellan’s staff is experienced in business planning and the financial requirements that create sustainable and effective community broadband networks.

The City of Rancho Cucamonga, California

City of Centennial, Colorado Fiber Master Plan — Completed
Magellan Advisors has completed the city of Centennial’s Fiber Master Plan, a municipal fiber and broadband strategic plan that lays out multi-year investments for a citywide fiber backbone. Magellan’s team of strategic, business and financial planners helped the city identify key opportunities to drive gigabit and greater connectivity to schools, libraries, local government and public safety organizations. The network will also become a platform to support future fiber-based broadband to stimulate new investments from private broadband providers.

The Master Plan is a result of an extensive public outreach process, including discussions with stakeholder organizations, local businesses, telecommunication providers, and the City Council. The Fiber Master Plan includes capital and operational budget estimates, a conceptual business plan, and a recommendation of operational roles and responsibilities. The plan lays out the potential benefits that a neutral, carrier-grade backbone could provide to the city and its stakeholder agencies.
