OAKLAND, CAiTV-3, a competitive service provider to central Illinois since 2010, is expanding its fiber-to-the-home triple-play network to serve two new Illinois communities, Morton and Pekin. The new network, managed by the Zhone Technologies MXK platform, passes more than 15,000 homes to provide reliable high-speed Internet access, VoIP and IPTV video services.

"Fiber is critical to our new offering, allowing us to keep up with consumer demand for increased Internet speed for streaming of movies or downloading other high-bandwidth content," says Levi Dinkla, vice president of iTV-3. "The flexibility and scalability of the MXK platform and its ability to provide GPON connectivity were main reasons Zhone was selected for this deployment. Its ability to integrate with current systems and provide a smooth implementation for the network expansion was also key." Zhone's zNID Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) will be installed at residences and business sites to support individual subscriber service needs.
