WAYNESBORO, VA — Lumos Networks, a fiber-based service provider in the mid-Atlantic region, is now offering Gigabit FAST residential fiber service for $69.95 on a two-year promotion to eligible consumers within its rural local exchange carrier
(RLEC) fiber footprint in Virginia.

This Gigabit FAST service offers Internet speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second (or 1,000 Mbps). Gigabit speeds are available to 100 percent of all residences passed by Lumos fiber in its entire RLEC footprint. Along with this offering, Lumos Networks is also performing a broadband speed increase to its middle speed profiles by moving existing fiber Internet customers from 50 Mbps to 75 Mbps and 100 Mbps to 150 Mbps for improved performance.

“This 1 gigabit promotional offering along with the new middle-speed profile migrations are geared to support our residential users' need for faster speed applications whether it is for telecommuting productivity or online entertainment such as gaming or video streaming," said Diego Anderson, senior VP and general manager of the residential and small business segment at Lumos Networks. "We continue to see a growing demand for higher speeds as consumers connect more and more Internet-enabled devices in their homes within an evolving Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem. These offerings are aligned to support the economic development and quality of life activities within our local communities as future technological needs advance.”

The newly available fiber download speed profile options now consist of 75 Mbps, 150 Mbps and 1 Gbps. The $69.95 promotional rate for the 1 Gbps is a limited time offer in the Alleghany Highlands, Waynesboro/Augusta County, and Troutville/Botetourt County Gigabit fiber service areas.
