DENVER, CO — The city of Mission Viejo, Calif., has engaged Magellan Advisors, a provider of broadband planning and IT consulting services, to assist the city in developing a fiber-optic feasibility study. Magellan’s California team of senior consultants are leading the efforts to assist the city in evaluating the feasibility of leveraging their assets to develop a fiber-optic network throughout the city for municipal and economic development benefits.

High-speed broadband is the critical infrastructure for the global digital economy, and the city of Mission Viejo recognizes the need for this infrastructure for municipal operations and economic growth. The city and Magellan will work with municipal departments and local stakeholders to determine the communities needs for further bandwidth and broadband technology now and in the future.

Magellan will work with the city to investigate the various options of broadband business models, guiding the Mission Viejo leadership in determining the most feasible model that meets the needs of the Mission Viejo community. Magellan will provide the city with a conceptual network design and technology options that will position the city to move forward with creation of a network if the study proves such a network to be feasible for the city.
