DES MOINES, IA — Mediacom Business, a division of Mediacom Communications, announced an agreement to provide commercial buildings owned by R&R Realty Group in the Des Moines Metro area with access to a fiber optic network capable of delivering broadband speeds up to 10 Gigabits per second.

Mark Rupprecht, president of R&R Realty, said his company provided Mediacom Business with a right of entry to their properties in order to offer its customers another choice in high-capacity broadband services. “In today’s highly competitive real estate market, it’s critical that we provide our customers with access to fast and reliable internet, telephone, and video solutions that will help their businesses grow and succeed. This agreement with Mediacom Business brings a new broadband option to our buildings.”

Ed Pardini, senior vice president of field operations for Mediacom, said his company will offset construction costs and installation timeframes for R&R Realty Group customers in order to provide immediate serviceability to over 6.3 million square feet of office, flex and industrial space that were previously unserved by Mediacom Business’ network.

Project Open Road
“Our agreement with R&R Realty Group kicks off a companywide initiative to proactively connect more businesses to our network known as Project Open Road. It is a key undertaking in Mediacom’s broader plan to make $1 billion in capital expenditures over the next 3 years to, among other projects, upgrade and expand our national broadband network,” Mr. Pardini said. “Once complete, we will be able to bring up to 10-Gig speeds right to the doorsteps of the R&R Realty buildings located in the Des Moines Metro Area, providing their tenants with a choice for high-capacity broadband.”
Commenting on Project Open Road, president of the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce Tiffany Menke stated, “By simply providing a right of entry that allows Mediacom Business to connect its fiber optic network to commercial buildings, property owners in the Des Moines area can offer tenants a high-capacity broadband connection that puts them on par with businesses in the largest metropolitan areas in the country. It’s a boon for area businesses and our local economy.”

Construction is expected to begin next month and continue into additional designated market areas through the first half of 2017. Interested property owners can find more information and fill out a Right of Entry form.
