HUNTSVILLE, AL - MonCre Telephone Cooperative (MonCre), a telephone and Internet provider in Ramer, Ala., is migrating its network to active Ethernet-based FTTH services, using equipment from ADTRAN. When the upgrade is complete, MonCre will have approximately doubled its network capacity to support high-bandwidth triple-play and Ethernet services to 100 percent of its residential and business customers in four Alabama counties.

MonCre selected the ADTRAN Total Access 5000’s active Ethernet FTTH solution to expand its service in phases that match its operational and service delivery goals. With the first phase beginning, MonCre can now deliver high-speed broadband and IP telephony services to residential customers plus high-value business Ethernet services to small and midsized business customers.

In the future, MonCre also plans to use ADTRAN solutions for mobile backhaul. ADTRAN’s modular Ethernet access gateway, the NetVanta 8044M, in combination with the Total Access 5000, will be used for cell-site backhaul as MonCre transitions to higher-bandwidth mobile networks in support of its growing cellular services business.
