HUNTSVILLE, AL - Moundville Telephone Company, an independent service provider serving western central Alabama, selected ADTRAN’s broadband portfolio, including its flagship Total Access 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform (MSAP), to enhance its triple-play and high-speed Internet access service delivery. This will enable Moundville to expand the range, reach and performance of a variety of fiber-to-the-home services and upgrade existing DSL services. In addition, Moundville will use the ADTRAN solution for mobile backhaul applications, enabling the transition to Ethernet transport.

Moundville Telephone Company has been deploying FTTH for seven years and also provides high-speed Internet service using ATM-based DSL, which is being upgraded from ATM to IP/Ethernet. The company selected ADTRAN’s Total Access 5000 because it is flexible enough to support a variety of services from a single system and aid in the transition of embedded networks from legacy to next-generation services. In addition, the platform's pseudowire aggregation feature is suitable for mobile backhaul applications. These benefits, along with the platform's capacity and scalability, will allow Moundville to address the changing needs of its customer base for years to come.

“The Total Access 5000 offers outstanding efficiency and scalability,” says Larry Taylor, general manager, Moundville Telephone Company. “As one of the most flexible platforms on the market, we will be able to quickly and continuously redefine our access architecture to meet the demands of our customers for a wide variety of applications such as FTTH, broadband and mobile backhaul.”
