EMPORIA, KS - Local press reports that a team of businessmen who formerly ran a telecom company have reunited to build a fiber-to-the-home network in Emporia, Kan., a city of about 25,000. The new company, called Valu-Net, will deliver triple-play services to homes and businesses. The founders have raised nearly half the needed funds, mainly from within the community.
According to the article, Valu-Net aims to keep Emporia businesses and individuals at the front of the broadband technology curve. Emporia is served by cable, DSL and wireless broadband, but the Valu-Net team says these existing broadband networks aren't keeping pace with demand for bandwidth.
