NEW ORLEANSAurora Networks, a provider of next-generation cable network equipment, introduced new RF over Glass (RFoG) devices, rounding out its solutions for direct-fed and distributed RFoG architectures. The new products, including diplexer/return receivers, a PON filter module, two high-powered optical amplifiers and an MDU CPE device, support RFoG networks at the headend, in the field at virtual (remote) hub sites and at the home. The compact devices save space and are simple to install, reducing complexity while enhancing upstream performance for DOCSIS 3.0-enabled services.

John Dahlquist, vice president of marketing, Aurora Networks, calls RFoG “the network architecture of choice for cable operators that want to bring all-fiber connectivity to homes and businesses" - especially in low-density areas, new developments and MDUs. Aurora"s RFoG architecture also enables migration to full PON capabilities.

Additional announcements from Aurora included integrated power connectivity for the NC2000 optical node platform - making it easier to install in MDUs - and a series of full-spectrum transmitters that enable a cable network’s evolution to full QAM capabilities, including a seamless migration to future CMAP (Converged Multiservice Access Platform) deployment.
