Provo Veracity Customers Can Now Sign Up for Google Fiber

  • Google Fiber
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA - Starting today, several thousand Provo residents (residential customers of the local Veracity Networks) can start signing up for Google Fiber. Sign-ups for the rest of Provo residents will open in January.

Provo residents will enjoy a faster sign-up process than their counterparts in Kansas City and now Austin where thousands of miles of new fiber-optic cables had to be installed, requiring many months of planning, engineering and construction. In Provo, Google purchased the existing iProvo network from the city of Provo, so most of the network already exists, requiring only upgrades to increase speed.

Veracity customers who accessed fiber through the former iProvo network are already connected to the newly upgraded Google Fiber network and will be the first people in Provo to be able to sign up for Google Fiber service. Veracity residential customers can go to Google Fiber Provo, enter their address and select choose a Google Fiber package (Gigabit Internet, Gigabit plus TV, or free Internet). To get this early access to Google Fiber, Veracity customers need to sign up before October 31.

Other Provo residents and local small businesses can sign up on the Google Fiber website to be notified when fiber is coming to their area.

Bringing Fiber to Provo MDUs
The sign-up process will take longer for residents of apartment buildings and condos (multi-dwelling units or MDUs) where fiber needs to be brought into the entire building. Google Fiber is beginning the process of talking with landlords and property owners across the city. Residents of buildings with nine or more units are encouraged to request that their landlords bring fiber into the building.
