Rancho Cucamonga Wins Award for Magellan Fiber Master Plan

DENVER, CO — The City of Rancho Cucamonga, California, has received a Smart City award from the Inland Empire Economic Partnership acknowledging its Fiber-Optic Master Plan as a key tool in demonstrating the City’s “commitment to job creation and economic growth for the Inland Empire.” The City’s Fiber-Optic Master Plan focuses on expansion of its fiber-optic network to support the broadband needs of local businesses while using this technology to reduce cost and improve the City’s internal capabilities.

The City of Rancho Cucamonga and its broadband consultant, Magellan Advisors, developed the Fiber-Optic Master Plan in 2016 and are now in the initial stages of implementing the plan. Magellan has provided an action-oriented, step-by-step plan to expand the network and Magellan is leading the implementation of the project. “City leadership guided our team to develop a plan based on the City’s goals of supporting local businesses and growing the Rancho Cucamonga economy. This award demonstrates the City’s commitment to developing innovative solutions for the benefit of its community” said Courtney Violette, chief operating officer at Magellan Advisors.

“Fiber and broadband are essential features of our growing community. The City of Rancho Cucamonga leads through innovation; the development and implementation of the fiber master plan provides an opportunity to fill a void, in meeting our citizens, businesses, and visitor’s digital demands,” said Fred Lyn, Rancho Cucamonga Municipal Utility Manager.
