CHATSWORTH, CA - Sabey Data Centers, a privately owned multi-tenant data center owner/developer/operator, has selected OptiDriver optical transport platform from MRV, a provider of packet and optical solutions, for its proprietary Intergate. Exchange (IGX) network to support interconnection bandwidth requirements at Intergate.Manhattan—its new mega data center in New York City. The OptiDriver platform will empower Sabey Data Centers’ network with higher capacity, power-efficiency, intelligence and flexibility. The solution improves manageability while reducing energy required for system operation and cooling, providing Sabey a competitive advantage with ongoing energy and operational costs.

“We specifically designed the OptiDriver platform to reduce capital and operational expenses so that data center operators, like Sabey Data Centers, can better support bandwidth-rich connections while maintaining a healthy bottom line.”

Up to 4 Terabits of Protected Capacity
Intergate.Manhattan is the largest, tallest and most connected of New York City’s data centers and the city’s only purpose-built data center that provides managed wholesale colocation space and turnkey, powered shell and lab space. A primary consideration for data center tenants is bandwidth and path diversity. To meet this critical requirement, Sabey selected MRV’s OptiDriver platform with up to 4 terabits of protected capacity as the foundation for connections between Intergate.Manhattan at 375 Pearl Street and the city’s other large data centers at 60 Hudson Street, 111 Eighth Avenue and 32 Avenue of the Americas.

“Our brand new IGX fiber connection at Intergate.Manhattan requires high bandwidth and resiliency to ensure high levels of service to our customers, and efficient energy usage to lower costs and improve our environmental footprint in the largest data center in the city,” said John Sabey, president of Sabey Data Centers.

The OptiDriver platform – MRV’s newest optical transport solution – is the industry’s highest-density 10 Gbps transport system delivering more capacity, intelligence and ease-of-use for data center networks. The platform can be configured to support multiple service types, has built-in redundant features that ensure service availability and includes support for low latency dispersion compensation modules and other features that enable ultra-low latency services. As a result, Sabey Data Centers is able to more effectively guarantee high-quality services to its end customers.

“We specifically designed the OptiDriver platform to reduce capital and operational expenses so that data center operators, like Sabey Data Centers, can better support bandwidth-rich connections while maintaining a healthy bottom line,” said Tim Pillow, senior vice president of global sales and marketing, for MRV Communications. “MRV is enabling more intelligent, efficient networks to support both current and next-generation data center services, such as software-defined networking, virtualization and cloud computing.”
