San Leandro, California, Taps Magellan Advisors for Fiber Master Plan

DENVER, CO — The city of San Leandro, California, has engaged Magellan Advisors, a broadband and smart city consulting firm, to assist the city in developing a Fiber-Optics Master Plan. Magellan’s West Coast team will work with Leadership from the city and Lit San Leandro to develop a plan that enhances the current network through smart policy and strategic planning.

Magellan’s team will work to develop community engagement and education around smart city initiatives and the importance and role of broadband networks, as well as analyzing the current broadband market, providers and service availability throughout the city. The plan will identify strategic ways to leverage the city’s current fiber-optic assets, implement broadband friendly policies, and work to determine the infrastructure necessary and develop a strategic plan for the rollout of key smart city assets.

Building on Existing Fiber Assets
The city of San Leandro has developed a state-of-the-art fiber network. The master plan, along with new policy and governance, will continue to build on these assets and position San Leandro to continue leading the Bay Area in connectivity and innovation.
