ROSEBURG, OR - SOLiD Technologies has launched ClearLight ACCESS, a high-capacity digital distribution solution that delivers 16 independent channels of traffic over a single strand of fiber. ClearLight ACCESS helps service providers achieve economies of scale and reduce capital and operational expenditures by unlocking network capacity within an existing fiber plant.

Built on SOLiD’s patented ClearLight LASER tunable optics technology, ClearLight ACCESS increases fiber plant capacity 16-fold to enable service providers to do more with their current fiber network and eliminate the expense of upgrading or building out additional fiber. The solution supports multiplexing of 16 channels of Gigabit Ethernet, SONET or CPRI over a single core fiber in tree and branch, chain or ring topology with no degradation in quality of service.

Additionally, ClearLight ACCESS is quick and easy to install. Because the ClearLight LASER automatically tunes and attenuates for distance, commissioning is completed in minutes, not days. The plug-and-play solution requires no changes to the fiber plant and eliminates the need for truck rolls to manually configure each end point on the network. ClearLight ACCESS delivers services over distances that exceed 60 km without the need for amplification or regeneration.

“Given the high cost to build out additional plant and the current worldwide shortage of fiber, ClearLight ACCESS is the right solution at the right time for service providers who need to add fiber capacity,” says Seth Buechley, president of SOLiD Technologies. “Based upon its early market reception, ClearLight ACCESS possesses the winning combination to scale capacity while reducing costs.”

ClearLight ACCESS, which was called MediaC-1600 during its beta-test period, has been successfully deployed by Quantum Communications and InnerCity FiberNet to deliver Gigabit Ethernet services in situations where fiber resources were limited.

In 2012, the company plans to enhance ClearLight ACCESS to deliver an industry-first 32 channels.
