Suddenlink Chooses Incognito for Device Provisioning and IP Address Management

VANCOUVER – Suddenlink Communications, one of the largest cable operators in the United States, is using Broadband Command Center and Address Commander from Incognito Software, a global provider of broadband software provisioning and service activation solutions, to provision and manage IP addresses for its approximately 1.4 million subscribers. In addition to being able to quickly provision and activate new video, voice and data services on its network, this deployment will also allow Suddenlink to identify and reclaim unused or stale IPv4 IP addresses, while also preparing its network for a gradual migration to IPv6.

As the seventh largest cable operator in the country, Suddenlink offers TV, Internet, phone and other services to its residential and commercial customers. In its ongoing efforts to provide fast, reliable communications, Suddenlink began its search for an automated device provisioning and IP address management solution that could not only accommodate the ever-increasing number of new subscribers and devices being added to its network on a regular basis, but also seamlessly integrate with the company’s existing device monitoring, network troubleshooting, data reporting and other back office systems.

Support for the Latest Standards and Technologies
With Broadband Command Center from Incognito Software, Suddenlink can now support the latest standards and technologies, including DOCSIS, PacketCable, SIP, and IPv6, while also customizing its provisioning based on device type, location, service speed or quality, or other criteria. This increases the speed at which new services can be released, as well as improves the subscriber experience by reducing activation time. The addition of Address Commander from Incognito Software also allows Suddenlink to quickly identify and reclaim unused IPv4 addresses for subscriber devices, while also easily generating new IPv6 ones where needed.
