Suddenlink to Provide TV Everywhere as Bulk Service in Student Housing

LUBBOCK, TEXAS — Starting this summer, Suddenlink Communications will provide its online video service Suddenlink2GO to the residents of five off-campus student living communities managed by Houston-based property management firm Asset Campus Housing. Suddenlink2GO features more than 120,000 full-length TV episodes, shorter video clips and movies – all accessible anywhere in the United States, on any computer with a high-speed Internet connection.

This is believed to be the first deployment of its kind by a cable company of a TV Everywhere product in a bulk setting – where the services are included in the rent without an additional charge.
The residents of the five communities currently receive Suddenlink high-speed Internet access and cable television as part of their rental packages.

"Suddenlink2GO is yet another way we are providing customers with a range of viewing choices to fit their lifestyles and preferences,” says Nathan Geick, division director for Suddenlink Business Services. “Today’s college student is almost always connected to the Internet. As long as the communities where they live subscribe to certain Suddenlink video packages, students can use Suddenlink2GO to access that video programming anywhere, at any time, and on almost any device. Even when away during breaks, students will be able to access Suddenlink2GO from any location with a compatible device and high-speed Internet access connection.”

The New Paradigm for Student Housing
“Multiscreen services such as Suddenlink2GO are the future. While we believe there will always be a place for the large TV in living areas, personal viewing for most students will migrate to PCs, tablets, smartphones and other Internet-enabled devices,” says Henry Pye, vice president of Resident Technology Services, a division of RealPage, a real estate technology specialist. “The addition of multiscreen access to traditional linear bulk video content and robust wired and wireless high-speed Internet access will become the new paradigm for student housing communities.”

“Suddenlink is the first of our partners to provide these services,” says Julie Bonnin, chief operating officer for Asset Campus Housing. “We are incredibly excited to add these services to our communities at no cost to our residents. Even when they go home on break, they will benefit from living at these communities.”

The five communities included in the deployment are:

• Cambridge at College Station, College Station, TX
• Crossing Place at College Station, College Station, TX
• Gateway at Lubbock, Lubbock, TX
• 25 Twenty, Lubbock, TX
• Legends at Nacogdoches, Nacogdoches, TX
