MADISON, WI — TDS Metrocom, a business unit of TDS Telecommunications (TDS), unveiled plans to build a fiber-to-the-home network in the fast-growing Meridian, Idaho area. The network will ultimately connect more than 57,000 homes and businesses across the communities of Meridian, Garden City, and the Town of Boise.
“We’re thrilled to bring a new, competitive choice for broadband, voice, and television entertainment to these communities,” says Jim Butman, president and CEO of TDS. “This future-proof technology will not only provide the reliability and speed of a world-class internet connection, but it will also foster additional growth and economic development for this booming region.”
Last year, TDS began building a 700-mile fiber-optic network to the nearby communities of Coeur d’Alene, Hayden, Hayden Lake, Post Falls, and Rathdrum, Idaho to deliver the same 1Gig broadband technology. The first customers were connected in November of 2019 and services will continue launching in phases in the coming months.
