TDS Expands Fiber Network, Brings 1 Gig Internet to Southwestern Wisconsin

  • TDS Telecommunications
MADISON, WI — TDS Telecom is expanding TDS TV, an Internet Protocol (IP)-based TV service, and new, faster Internet speeds of up to 1 Gbps to customers in Bagley, Wisconsin, and surrounding areas. The 1 Gbps Internet service, the fastest speed offered by TDS, is expected to begin launching in August.

Residents may have already noticed TDS construction in the area as TDS lays miles of fiber and installs new fiber distribution hubs to upgrade the local network to fiber optics. Once the fiber-optic network is complete, speeds up to 1 gigabit will be available with TDS TV service. “With the success of TDS TV in communities in Wisconsin and across the country, we couldn’t be more excited to bring it to Bagley,” says Julie Maiers, director of Marketing at TDS. “It means faster speeds, a new choice for TV service, and the opportunity for exclusive discounts.”

Neighborhoods Rally to Achieve Fiberville Status
TDS is also bringing Fiberville to the community. It’s a concept that rewards residents and neighborhoods with special offers and discounts once 15 percent of the neighborhood pre-registers for TDS TV service. When this happens, Fiberville status is achieved and each pre-registered household receives free HD for life.

Maiers said, “Fiberville offers Bagley residents a unique opportunity to get out and talk to their neighbors and to get extra savings for as long as they’re a TDS customer. It’s also a great chance to get fantastic TV service. Customers tell us how much they enjoy TDS TV, the included DVR, and how easy it is to use.”

Residents can go to TDSfiber.com to get updates on when TDS TV and 1Gig will be available, as well as track their neighborhood’s progress toward Fiberville status. Fiberville will begin launching in nearby Fennimore in September, Cassville, Potosi and Lancaster in October and Dickeyville in December.

TDS TV is powered by Mediaroom and features more than 260 all-digital channels (including 100+ in HD), on-demand TV and movies, pay-per-view, and on-the-go viewing options with TDS TV Everywhere. TDS TV also includes a Connected-Home DVR, which links all TVs together in a home so customers can do all of the following:

  • Record up to four shows at once in HD

  • Connect up to 10 TVs to enable DVR functionality on all

  • Schedule and playback recordings on any connected TV

  • Store up to 400 hours of programming (standard-definition)

Wireless set-top boxes are also available with TDS TV. Without being tethered to a cable jack, wireless set-top boxes allow customers the flexibility to move their TVs anywhere in a room—all that’s needed is a power outlet.
