MADISON, WI — TDS Telecom, an ISP that delivers high-speed internet to nearly 900 rural, suburban, and metropolitan communities across the U.S., is expanding its fiber network to deliver high-speed internet service to thousands more residential and business addresses in the Knoxville suburbs of Halls Crossroads and Farragut, Tenn. Those impacted by the project will gain access to up to 1 Gbps internet speeds. The expansion project is launching to the first customers now, with additional phased rollouts continuing in the coming months.
When completed, the nearly $8 million build will connect over 3,400 Halls addresses and 3,000 Farragut addresses to the TDS fiber network. The project bolsters the company’s existing area infrastructure, having first offered 1 Gbps service to the Knoxville area in 2015.
In addition to a range of internet download speed choices up to 1 Gbps and upload speeds of 400 Mbps, the fiber network will also deliver TDS TV, the company’s full-featured all-digital TV offering, plus phone service. Business customers in the fiber footprint will have TDS TV available, internet access and transport connections up to 10Gig via dedicated fiber as well as, TDS managed IP, a hosted VoIP communications solution.
