Green Bay, Wisconsin--Faster speeds will soon be coming to Green Bay and several surrounding communities. TDS Telecommunications plans to expand its proposed fiber network to deliver up to 2 Gbps symmetrical internet in the Green Bay area. In its upcoming build, the company will now include more than 50,000 residential and business service addresses across Green Bay, Bellevue, and Ashwaubenon. The projects will bring up to 2Gig residential upload and download internet speeds, 10G dedicated connections for businesses, as well as TV, and phone service. Construction in the newly announced communities will begin this fall with fiber services becoming available to customers in phases across all three communities.

“At a time when access to fast and reliable internet is a necessity in all communities and as we, as a city, continue to expand digital access in our neighborhoods and improve the digital capabilities of city operations, I welcome the work TDS has begun to enhance competition among providers of internet, TV, and phone services to the residents of Green Bay,” said Mayor Eric Genrich

Including the communities of Suamico, Howard, and Hobart, Wisconsin—other communities where TDS recently announced projects—TDS will reach nearly 70,000 Green Bay-area addresses with fiber technology. TDS is partnering with Tilson, a network deployment and construction firm, on the builds.

“TDS’ fiber expansion in Green Bay will bring the high-speed connections residents and businesses want and need,” said Andrew Petersen, Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs at TDS. “The technology can handle today’s demands and what is expected to come in the future.”

Residential addresses can choose a range of internet options up to 2 Gigabit (2,000Mbps) internet download and upload speeds, along with TDS TV®+ and phone services. Businesses can receive dedicated connections, TDS TV+, and managed IP—TDS’ hosted VoIP communications solution.

The company also recently launched its fiber network in Wisconsin’s Fox Cities—including Appleton, Kimberly, Kaukauna, Menasha, Little Chute—and is nearing completion on projects in both Wausau and Stevens Point. TDS has been doing business in the state for 53 years and serves customers in 32 states.
