Televisa Acquires Part of Axtel's Residential FTTH Business

MEXICO CITY — Grupo Televisa, a large media company in the Spanish-speaking world, announced that it has acquired Axtel's residential fiber-to-the-home business and related assets in Mexico City, Zapopan, Monterrey, Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosi and Ciudad Juarez.

The assets acquired comprise 553,226 revenue generating units (RGUs: a subscriber to a specific service. Subscribers to internet, phone and video services are counted as three RGUs), consisting of 97,622 video, 227,802 broadband, and 227,802 voice revenue generating units.

The total value of the transaction amounts to MXN (Mexican pesos) 4,713 million, (USD $234.3) and, as of September 30, 2018, the revenue and operating segment income associated to these assets over the prior twelve months reached MXN 1,900 million ($94.5 million) and MXN 631 million ($31.3), respectively.
