DENVER, CO — The City of Moorpark, California, has selected Magellan Advisors, a provider of turnkey planning, design, deployment and operations of Smart City networks, as its partner in the development of a broadband strategic plan through a competitive bidding process.
The City of Moorpark seeks to create a plan that will ensure robust broadband is available to enable economic development and Smart City initiatives by creating a plan that will promote the deployment of broadband infrastructure for government facilities and commercial and industrial corridors. Magellan will assist in inventorying existing infrastructure, identifying unserved and underserved areas, and developing municipal strategies that support expanding access to high-speed internet, allowing Moorpark to maximize efficiency and cost effectiveness in preparing for future technologies.
Public Policy Recommendations
The Plan will also provide public policy recommendations around wireless and wired infrastructure including small cell deployment, dig once and joint trench to fast-track Moorpark’s readiness for 5G. Magellan’s California-based team brings knowledge of best practices in cost-effective, resource-efficient municipal policies and procedures that will enable the City to partner with carriers in streamlining deployment of these technologies. Additionally, the Broadband strategic Plan will analyze Moorpark’s needs for Smart City innovations including intelligent transportation, public safety innovations, telemedicine, autonomous vehicles and other applications.
Magellan’s West Coast team will work with Moorpark’s leadership to bring stakeholders such as anchor institutions and broadband providers together to develop a Plan that will prepare the City for gigabit broadband by developing strategic partnerships and capitalizing on existing assets.
