Too Many Fiber Cables, Too Little Space? Try 2-mm Cable, Says Multicom

Limited spaces and tight bends make placing bundles of fiber optic cable difficult.  Standard 3-mm cables can take up large amounts of "fiber real estate" with unnecessary jacket thickness. But the typical fiber-guide system or raceway can support as many as 400 2-mm fiber optic cables. Todd Schaffer at distributor Multicom says that in a situation where micrometers matter and degradation in signal strength isn't an option, it makes sense to use the smallest-diameter jumpers and pigtails on the market. Multicom stocks a full complement of 2-mm fiber optic passives.
