TriGig Issues RFP as Part of NC Triad Regional Broadband Initiative

GREENSBORO, NC — TriGig, a collaborative of entities in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, has issued an RFP asking Internet service providers to submit proposals for its next-generation broadband infrastructure.

The TriGig coalition consists of the city of Greensboro along with the cities of Burlington and High Point, Guilford County, UNC Greensboro, NC A&T State University and the Piedmont Triad Regional Council (PTRC) have partnered to encourage the development of high-speed broadband networks to meet the technological needs of current and future businesses, educational institutions, healthcare and local residents.

The TriGig coalition seeks to work with Internet service providers to make available access to a common pool of assets, services and infrastructure to support the deployment of gigabit speed broadband throughout the community. The purpose of the TriGig initiative is to leverage existing assets to assist Internet service providers with building and deploying high-speed broadband networks in Greensboro and surrounding areas.
