AT&T announced the company’s fastest high-speed Internet is now available to tens of thousands of households in and around Austin. Those already subscribed to U-verse with AT&T GigaPower featuring speeds up to 300 Mbps will see their Internet speeds upgraded to up to 1 Gbps at no additional cost in the coming weeks. Existing customers don’t need to do anything, the upgrades will happen automatically.
Austin Found
The AT&T GigaPower network speed increase includes other enhancements for tech savvy Austinites. AT&T also announced the launch of a new interactive TV app exclusively for Austin-area residents. The app, called Austin Found, provides Austin U-verse TV customers personalized information on Austin food, entertainment and other events with just a click of the remote.
With Austin Found, users can navigate the app’s display and show the information most important to them with sections like entertainment, restaurants, arts or sports. Users can also mark events as a favorite to add them to their own event calendar within the app. To access the app, press Go Interactive on your U-verse TV remote.
The company has also introduced a new promotion for Austin area residents who add a new AT&T wireless plan to a new or existing U-verse with AT&T GigaPower account, or who add a U-verse with AT&T GigaPower plan to an existing AT&T wireless account. Those subscribers will be eligible1 for a one-time $100 promotional credit on their AT&T wireless monthly bill. The offer begins today and runs through Nov. 8, 2014. Consumers must have a qualifying AT&T wireless plan and a U-verse with AT&T GigaPower account for 45 days to receive a $100 bill credit.
The AT&T GigaPower network offers:
- Ability to schedule DVR recordings, watch more than 100 live TV channels in and out of home, and watch video on-demand TV shows on more than 30 smart phones and tablets.
- Among the fastest Internet speeds available to consumers and small businesses in and around Austin. With Gigabit speeds, you can download 25 songs in one second.
- Access to cutting-edge TV services that include an enhanced DVR with 1 terabyte of hard drive and can record five shows at the same time.
In April, AT&T announced a major initiative to expand its ultra-fast AT&T GigaPower fiber network to up to 100 candidate cities and municipalities across 25 markets nationwide. So far, AT&T has committed to deliver the AT&T GigaPower network to Charlotte, Houston, Nashville, Overland Park, Kan., Raleigh-Durham, San Antonio, and Winston-Salem. This summer, AT&T will begin lighting up the AT&T GigaPower network in North Texas – Dallas, Fort Worth, and surrounding cities.
