EDINBURG, VA — Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel) announced the completion of a new fiber optic network deployment for Utz Quality Foods. Headquartered in Hanover, Pennsylvania, Utz is a privately owned, family-managed company which manufactures and markets snack foods throughout the United States and internationally.

Shentel provided fiber-based dedicated internet access (DIA) service to the Utz corporate headquarters as well as dark fiber to connect an additional facility. The solution allows Utz to easily add capacity as the company grows, up to 100 Gbps over Shentel’s fully redundant fiber optic network.

“We have enjoyed working with Shentel,” said Steve Toth, CIO, Utz Quality Foods. “They provided a fiber optic solution that immediately benefited the productivity to our plant operations. Internet access is an essential business tool, and Shentel tripled our bandwidth without burdening our budget with growth to scale for our future needs.”

“Shentel recently completed a $5 million expansion of our fiber network into central Pennsylvania, and we are excited about entering the Hanover, Penn., a market with such a prominent business partner like Utz,” said Ed McKay, senior vice president of wireline and engineering at Shentel.
