ROCHESTER, NY — Greenlight Networks, an ultra-high-speed, broadband service provider, offering residential and small business customers Internet speeds up to a gigabit per second, announced that it completed construction of its first Greenlight District in the village of Fairport, N.Y.

Greenlight Networks fiber optic network offers Internet speeds up to 100 times faster than the average American household is receiving. According to The Wall Street Journal, the addition of a fiber connection to a home increases the home’s value approximately 3 percent. A Fiber to the Home Council study found that the property value of a multi-dwelling unit building also increases about 3 percent with a fiber connection. In addition, the study found that a reliable broadband connection was listed as the most important amenity by residents, when choosing an apartment or condo.

To build the network, Greenlight entered into an agreement with Fairport Electric to gain access to its utility pole infrastructure. Greenlight expects expansion in Fairport and the surrounding communities to accelerate in 2017. The company now serves customers in Brighton, East Rochester, Fairport, Henrietta, Irondequoit, Penfield, Pittsford, Rochester, Webster and West Henrietta.
