OAKLAND, CA VOLstate.net, an ISP providing voice and data services to business customers in Dayton, TN, has deployed a new MXK multi-service access node (MSAN) system from Zhone Technologies, a provider of FTTx network access solutions. Through leveraging Zhone's MXK, VOLstate.net built a new gigabit passive optical network (GPON) to support high-speed Internet, hosted PBX and VoIP services to its current footprint of 500 business subscribers.

VOLstate.net, which owns and operates its own network, currently offers business customers a wide range of Internet solutions such as DataStash online backup services and RevTel hosted PBX services. With well-planned and managed resources, VOLstate.net is able to provide its customers with outstanding value for their money. VOLstate.net's decision to deploy GPON comes from the need of its customers to go beyond the bandwidth offered by the local cable company and incumbent phone company.

Zhone's MXK platform is a fully redundant, carrier-grade all-IP platform and the industry's first terabit access concentrator. It features industry-leading density, scalability and switching capacity and provides non-blocking capacity of up to 3,600 100 Mbps GPON subscribers or 360 1 Gbsp Active Ethernet subscribers.
