Wicked Fiber Comes to Lawrence, Kansas

  • Wicked Fiber
LAWRENCE, KS - Wicked Fiber, a new ISP, has announced the launch of its fiber buildout and service in Lawrence, Kansas for business and residential customers, and has begun the pre-registration process.

The company has indicated that it is rallying residents to help lay the foundation for the potential expansion of Google Fiber to Lawrence. They will be installing fiber optic cable in neighborhoods that show the most interest in terms of pre-registration. They will lay the underground conduit and then pull the fiber optic cable to the home. At each service address, they will install two spare fibers, which will be available to other carriers or entities that might want to bring fiber-optic Internet service to Lawrence.

"Obviously, we'd love to have Google Fiber come to Lawrence and provide service using the cutting edge infrastructure we are building," says the company's website. "The addition of Google's storage, TV and search technologies would be a win-win for everyone involved."

Managed Wireless Access
Wicked Fiber will install a managed access point on each home, which is connected to its battery backup, providing members with:

  1. Access to the Internet in the event of a power outage or emergency

  2. Access to public information resources without a paid account

  3. Roaming WiFi access throughout the community
