OAKLAND, CA — Zhone Technologies, a global leader in the fiber access market, and Qypsys, a infrastructure integrator, announced a new FiberLAN deployment with SouthEast Bank through strategic partnerships with TE Connectivity and Taylor Telecom Solutions, Zhone's equipment will enable SouthEast Bank's customers to access its services over super-fast fiber optic Internet through a secure, cost-efficient and greener alternative, FiberLAN technology.

Ninety Percent Reduction in Floor and Rack Space, Optimizing the Architecture
In an era where technology has emerged as a solution to improve customer service and operational efficiency, it's important for banks to constantly look for ways to improve their services. According to Gartner, the banking and financial services industry is close to the top of the IT spend list. Knowing that providing great customer service is important, SouthEast Bank looked to Zhone and TE Connectivity to help them build an advanced network at an affordable cost. One of the bank's biggest concerns was saving space. Zhone's FiberLAN was the perfect solution to fulfill their needs since it provides up to a 90 percent reduction in floor and rack space, optimizing the architecture.

"SouthEast Bank wanted to build a network infrastructure that would sustain business growth over the next 20 years while reducing physical space, electricity consumption and heat dissipation from the network," said Jeff Gibbs, chief information officer at SouthEast Bank. "Zhone's GPON allowed us to reduce space to one data room with no additional impact on cooling costs, while TE Connectivity's shielded 6-strand fiber ensured our building is adaptable with no need for additional network runs."

Preparing Network Capabilities for Future Adaptations
"Zhone, TE Connectivity and Qypsys worked with SouthEast Bank to identify the best solutions to improve their network capabilities for banking customers and prepare it for future adaptations," said Monique Apter, vice president, FiberLAN at Zhone Technologies. "Zhone is dedicated to creating innovative products, such as FiberLAN, that meet the unique needs of customers in a wide range of industries, including banking, and help to improve services and operations for its customers."

Delivering Comprehensive Connectivity for any LAN Requirement
Zhone's Fiber-based LAN is a high-performance, high-density GPON-based Passive Optical LAN solution delivering high speed data, voice and video to multi-level, multi-unit commercial and industrial complexes, including hotel rooms, bandwidth demanding desktops and work-stations. It can be deployed in offices, rooms, factories or other harsh industrial environments, delivering comprehensive connectivity for any Local Area Networking requirement.

The specific Zhone products leveraged in the deployment were its small form factor OLT and its 2804P in-wall ONTs, which SouthEast Bank liked because of the low profile design and functionality. TE Connectivity's OLS solution was used for the project, alongside many of its other passive components.
