Broadband Communities (BBC), the leading source of information on digital and broadband technologies for communities and for buildings, is seeking an editor skilled at creating content across a range of platforms, including website, online newsletter and for social media. The role goes beyond the written word with opportunities for video, podcasting and live events.

All BBC content aims to accelerate the deployment of Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) and Fiber-To-The-Premises (FTTP) while keeping readers up to date on the available solutions capable of serving their practical needs.

BBC offers in-depth news, expert insights and practical know-how on the technical, business, financial, and legal aspects of outfitting properties and communities with broadband solutions. With a focus on residential buildings and developments as well as municipalities, BBC helps the large-scale and wholesale buyers and users of broadband technologies, equipment, and services competitively distinguish their properties and communities in a rapidly changing marketplace.

Broadband Communities launched in 2004 and publishes news, analysis, and insight, as well as hosting the Broadband Communities Summit in the spring. As with many B2B publishers, our events business is now our most important revenue stream, and so we expect the editor’s role and the editorial to reflect this.

The editor’s duties will include, but not be limited to:

    • Create news and analysis articles profiling what’s happening in the industry, such as the latest broadband builds, hot topics in the industry, plus a profile of a multifamily property of the month
    • Solicit contributions from industry leaders
    • Conduct interviews of industry leaders to profile in each issue
    • Provide coverage of supporting partners’ events
  • SOCIAL MEDIA – we are active on platforms including Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook. We expect the editor to enhance and develop our social media presence.
  • VIDEO, WEBINARS & PODCASTS – we create a full range of multimedia content and anticipate the editor conceptualising, hosting and supporting the marketing of all such content.
  • LIVE EVENTS – the editor will use their industry insight to suggest, create and moderate sessions at our conferences and take part in judging for our awards.
  • INSIGHT & SUPPORT – editors are well-connected with the industry and should use this knowledge to help steer themes and potential commercial partners. You should on occasion accompany the sales team for some meetings.

We anticipate this being a hybrid role, ideally based from our Rosenberg, TX-office, and will offer the successful candidate extensive opportunities to travel to our own events and other industry events.

Although we do not require formal qualifications as a journalist, we do expect the following:

  • Strong undergraduate degree (minimum) in a business or technically focused discipline
  • Minimum two years editorial experience in a technical market
  • Flexible approach and a can-do attitude – this is a modern editorial role
  • Willingness to travel as required
  • An interest in and knowledge of broadband technology
  • Proven ability to write quickly and accurately
  • Confident approach and mature persona
  • Ability to work effectively independently
